Equal Access to Democracy

Our ‘Equal Access to Democracy Plan’ identifies key issues that impact on access and participation in the democratic process for people with a disability. It outlines important initiatives to provide more choices at the 2008 Local council elections.

Braille ballot papers

Applications for Braille ballot papers are now closed.

Braille postal voters will begin to receive their ballot papers at their nominated address from the week commencing Monday 18 August 2008. Pre-poll Braille voters will be able to cast their vote at their nominated pre-poll centre from Monday 1 September 2008. Ordinary Braille voters will be able to cast their vote at their nominated polling place on election day, Saturday 13 September 2008.
